Ideas For What You Can Do With Your Tax Return This Year

Now that you have filed your taxes and are waiting for your tax return to arrive, you feel a combination of relief and excitement. And you begin imagining all of the things that you can do with your tax return money. However, at the same time that you are thinking about putting a down payment on a brand new car, or remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, you wonder in the back of your mind if there is something better or more altruistic that you can do with the money. After all, you consider yourself to be an unselfish and caring person who cares about the well-being of the world and others. So, before you make your final decision on how to spend your tax return, consider some of these alternative altruistic options.

Non-Profit Organizations for Children

Around the world and in the United States, there are millions of children who live in undesirable, impoverished conditions. Schoolchildren in The Midwestern United States go to school in subzero temperatures and snow without proper shoes or boots and without winter coats. In this country as well as in others, children go hungry and without necessary medical care and treatment because their parents simply cannot provide for them, no matter how hard they try.

These are harsh realities about the world that many people choose to overlook or ignore. However, there are also many non-profit organizations for children that are attempting to right these injustices in the world. These organizations send aid workers, food, clothing, and assistance out to other countries and to children in this country to give these children a helping hand.

You can select the type of non-profit organizations for children that you would like, whether your prefer your money to help local children in your town or neighborhood, children in the United States in general, or children around the world. However, by donating some or all of your tax return to such agencies, you can be sure that your money will be making a major difference in the lives of many children.

Non-Profit No-Kill Shelters

Every day millions of animals (mainly dogs and cats) sit in animal shelters scared and alone, in cages waiting to be adopted. And many of these animals were previously abandoned, abused, feral, or in puppy mills or other dangerous breeding environments.

Unfortunately, in standard animal shelters, the animals who are not adopted after a set amount of time (a few months or more) are put down (euthanized). This means that animals who have suffered for most of their lives are then punished further by being put to death.

No-kill shelters on the other hand, will never put animals down no matter if they get adopted or not. They take in animals that were so badly abused in the past that they have permanent injuries, missing limbs, and inabilities to bond with or trust people. These shelters give such animals a safe place to live out their days in comfort and free of the abuse they endured previously. Donating your tax return to such facilities will help to ensure that these humane actions are possible.

Now that you know just a few of the many ways that your tax return can be used to benefit others rather than just yourself, you can better decide what it is you wish to do with your tax return money. So, keep these options in mind as you ponder all of the possibilities. To learn more, contact THE LOUIS HOUSE FOUNDATION
